Russell’s Great Reads

Empower, Inspire, Inform, and Educate!

Cheurlie Pierre-Russell is a multifaceted author and advocate whose work bridges children’s literacy, mental-wellness empowerment, and accessible luxury travel, grounded in a strong academic foundation in sociology and psychology. She creates books and resources that uplift families, nurture emotional resilience, and open doors to new possibilities at home and around the world.

Children’s literature
As a children’s book author, Cheurlie focuses on helping young readers build confidence, compassion, and character through relatable stories and meaningful life lessons. Her books celebrate diversity, foster inclusion, and encourage children to embrace their unique identities regardless of their background or circumstances. She intentionally writes in ways that support parents, educators, and caregivers in shaping future leaders who believe in their potential and rise above challenges.

Mental wellness and Hear to Heal
Cheurlie is the creator of Hear to Heal, a trauma-informed guided journal designed to help individuals process emotions, find their voice, and feel supported along their healing journey. Rooted in compassion and mental-wellness principles, the journal serves as a gentle companion for anyone seeking clarity, peace, emotional grounding, or restorative reflection in their day-to-day lives.

Accessible luxury travel
Through Luxury Travel on a Budget, Cheurlie extends her mission of empowerment into the realm of global exploration. She shares practical strategies, personal experiences, and insider tips that make travel feel luxurious yet financially accessible for everyday families. Her work demonstrates that unforgettable, life-changing travel experiences do not require luxury-level spending to be meaningful or transformative.

Background and advocacy
A proud Miami native and daughter of an immigrant, Cheurlie’s passion for advocacy began when she witnessed mistreatment of children in underserved communities, experiences that sparked her lifelong commitment to empathy, emotional strength, and equitable opportunities. Her service as a U.S. Navy veteran further shaped her worldview and deepened her commitment to creating spaces where every child feels seen, heard, and valued.

Community engagement and impact
Cheurlie has shared her message as a featured speaker at the “Author and You” Literacy Week event at Miami Northwestern Senior High School from 2019 to 2022. Between 2010 and 2013, she also volunteered as a tutor for underserved children, offering free academic support and fostering a love of learning that continues to inform her work. Across her books, journals, and travel resources, her mission remains to empower children, families, and individuals to recognize their worth, use their voice, and lead lives filled with confidence, compassion, purpose, and possibility.
