How do you deal with uncertainty?
There are moments in life when you simply do not know what comes next.
You may have questions without answers. You may be waiting for a decision, navigating a major life change, grieving something you cannot change, or trying to understand where your life is headed. Sometimes, the hardest part is not knowing how the story will end.

Uncertainty can be uncomfortable because we naturally want answers, control, and reassurance.
But what if healing does not require us to know everything?
What if sometimes healing begins with learning how to sit with the unknown?
Learning to Live With the Unknown
When we are uncertain, our minds can quickly begin creating possibilities.
What if something goes wrong?
What if I make the wrong decision?
What if things never get better?
What if I lose something important to me?
What if I am not prepared for what comes next?
These thoughts can create fear before anything has actually happened.
Uncertainty can cause us to live in a future that has not arrived instead of being present in the moment we are actually experiencing.
One of the first steps toward emotional healing is recognizing the difference between what you know and what you fear.
You may not know what tomorrow will bring.
But you know what is happening today.
And sometimes, today is enough.
You Don’t Have to Have Everything Figured Out
There is no requirement that you have your entire life figured out.
You can be healing and still be uncertain.
You can be hopeful and still be afraid.
You can trust God and still have questions.
You can move forward without knowing exactly where the road will lead.
Healing is not always about finding immediate answers. Sometimes, it is about developing the strength to continue while the answers are still unfolding.
What Can You Control?
When uncertainty feels overwhelming, bring your attention back to what you can control.
You may not control another person’s choices.
You may not control the outcome of a situation.
You may not control what happened yesterday or what will happen tomorrow.
But you can control how you care for yourself today.
You can choose to pause.
You can breathe.
You can journal.
You can ask for support.
You can set a healthy boundary.
You can give yourself permission to rest.
You can choose not to allow fear to make every decision for you.
Focus on the next step instead of demanding that you know the entire journey.
Hear to Heal System: Give Your Feelings a Place to Go
This is one of the reasons I created the Hear to Heal System.
Sometimes we do not need another person to immediately tell us what to do. Sometimes we need a safe space to slow down, express what we are feeling, and hear our own thoughts.

The Hear to Heal System consist of a Hear to Heal Companion Book and App and were created to encourage reflection, emotional awareness, guided journaling, and healing through life’s difficult seasons.
When uncertainty is weighing on you, journaling can help you move some of those thoughts from your mind onto the page.
Try asking yourself:
What am I uncertain about right now?
What am I afraid might happen?
What do I actually know to be true today?
What is within my control?
What do I need emotionally right now?
What would I tell someone I love who was experiencing this same uncertainty?
Sometimes, writing the answers can help separate fear from reality.
You Can Take Life One Moment at a Time
You do not have to solve your entire future today.
You do not have to know how every situation will turn out.
You do not have to carry tomorrow before tomorrow arrives.
Take the next breath.
Take the next step.
Have the next conversation.
Write the next page.
Ask for the help you need.
And remind yourself:
“I may not know what comes next, but I can choose how I care for myself while I get there.”
Uncertainty does not mean that something bad is coming.
Sometimes, uncertainty simply means that the story has not been written yet.
And there is still room for something beautiful to unfold.
A Hear to Heal Reflection
Before you move on with your day, pause and ask yourself:
What uncertainty am I carrying that I need to release?
Write freely. You do not have to make your answer perfect.
Let yourself be honest.
Let yourself feel.
Let yourself breathe.
And remember—you don’t have to have all the answers to take another step forward.
Healing can happen in the space between what you know and what you are still learning.
